What should you tell an ant-control provider?
Describe where ants appear, whether you noticed a mound or an indoor trail, and when the activity began. Fire ants are among the ant concerns in the planned referral scope. The LSU AgCenter explains that identifying the species is the first step in determining whether and how to control ants. Do not reach into a mound or handle pesticide products to test an assumption.
Does every ant sighting call for the same treatment?
No. Ask a provider to identify the pest, describe the affected area and explain why its proposed work fits the finding. A rainy week or Baton Rouge address does not identify an ant species or guarantee a particular result.
What should you ask before hiring?
For household pest work, the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry lists General Pest Control licensing and a company place-of-business permit. Ask for the applicable license, permit and insurance, and confirm whether the provider serves your address. This website does not inspect a mound or verify an independent contractor.
