What should you tell a rodent-control provider?
Describe any sightings of mice or rats and where you noticed suspected droppings or gnaw marks, without handling unknown material. Such signs are observations, not proof of a species or the source of an infestation. A provider can assess what is present at your home.
What should an inspection establish?
Ask the provider to explain what it found and what is included in its proposed control plan. A sighting after Baton Rouge rain or a storm does not show where a mouse or rat entered or establish an effective treatment. Do not handle traps, poisons or contaminated material based on this article. If a storm has made an area unsafe, stay away and follow local emergency advice.
What Louisiana authorization should you ask about?
The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry lists General Pest Control for household rodents and Commercial Vertebrate Control for certain business work. This page is for homeowners. Ask the company about its applicable license, permit and insurance and verify its details independently. This website does not certify individual providers or guarantee address-level service.
